Grado Headphones
Mahogany warmth. Statement scale.

The GS1000x is the first full-bodied headphone to use Grado's larger 50mm X Drivers — de-stressed and specifically tuned to bring out the warmth of its hybrid mahogany and ipê wood construction. Mahogany exudes warm, rich tones while ipê acts as a sturdy acoustic base, creating a full-bodied, enveloping sound with drivers matched to an extraordinary 0.05 dB. A 15-foot super-annealed copper 12-conductor cable with 6.3 mm plug, black leather headband with white stitching, and G-cushion ear pads round out a headphone of remarkable comfort and musicality at just 372 g.
Grado's largest X Driver, specifically tuned for mahogany — decreased-mass voice coil, reconfigured diaphragm, matched to 0.05 dB per pair.
For the first time, two tonewoods work together — mahogany for warm tonal richness, ipê for structural rigidity and acoustic precision.
Super-annealed copper in a 12-conductor braided cable — 15 feet of freedom for desktop and living-room listening.
Lighter than most planar headphones — mahogany and ipê keep the weight low for fatigue-free extended sessions with G-cushion comfort.
More power. Less mass. More music.
Grado's 4th-generation X Drivers feature a more powerful magnetic circuit using rare-earth alloys, a voice coil with decreased effective mass using copper-plated aluminium, and a reconfigured 'de-stressed' diaphragm. Available in 44 mm (Prestige/Reference) and 50/52 mm (Statement/Signature) sizes, each driver is tuned for its specific housing material and matched to 0.05 dB per pair — improving efficiency, reducing distortion, and preserving the harmonic integrity of your music at every volume level.
Every material has a voice.
Grado selects each housing material for its unique acoustic signature: cocobolo for vivid punch, Brazilian walnut for relaxed warmth, mahogany for tonal richness, maple for balanced clarity, hemp for smooth extension, and machined aluminium for surgical precision. Many models combine multiple woods — the RS1x uses maple, hemp, and cocobolo together — to create complex, layered acoustic characters that synthetic housings cannot replicate. Every housing is hand-shaped at the Brooklyn workshop.
