The Dovedale is the flagship of Wharfedale's Heritage series — a 90th Anniversary 3-way standmount with a 10-inch woven Kevlar woofer, 5-inch Kevlar midrange, and fabric-dome tweeter. Designed by Peter Comeau and manufactured in Wharfedale's UK facility in Huntingdon, it pairs vintage aesthetics with modern engineering: sandwich-construction cabinets, precision crossovers, and a custom carbon-steel stand deliver bass extension to 25 Hz and a peak SPL of 112 dB.

10″ Woven Kevlar Woofer
Large-format black woven Kevlar bass driver delivers deep, controlled bass extending to 25 Hz at −6 dB — enormous authority from a standmount.
5″ Kevlar Midrange
Dedicated woven Kevlar midrange in its own sealed cylindrical enclosure — isolated from the woofer for pristine vocal reproduction.
Improved Fabric-Dome Tweeter
25 mm fabric dome with ceramic magnet and rear damping chamber — smooth, refined treble with extended low-frequency resonance control.
UK-Manufactured Cabinet
Sandwich-construction panels (6 mm MDF + 12 mm HDP) bonded with damping adhesive, hand-veneered in walnut — built at Wharfedale's Huntingdon facility.

Woven Kevlar Drivers
Heritage-grade bass and midrange.
The Heritage and EVO 5 series use black woven Kevlar cone drivers — a material renowned for its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio and natural damping characteristics. Kevlar's inherent stiffness ensures pistonic motion across the operating band, while its fibrous structure provides controlled internal damping that prevents ringing and colouration. Each driver is paired with a precision-wound voice coil and low-distortion motor system for detailed, dynamic bass reproduction.
Sandwich Cabinet Construction
Resonance killed at the source.
Wharfedale's multi-layer cabinet construction bonds layers of different wood products together with high-damping adhesive — typically 6 mm MDF outer walls bonded to 12 mm high-density particle board inner walls. This sandwich structure shifts panel resonances below audibility and prevents energy storage that colours the sound. The Elysian and Aura series add precision-shaped internal bracing and curved cabinet walls to further reduce standing waves and diffract sound evenly.
