Wharfedale Elysian Series
Compact reference. Pure musicality.

The Elysian 1 is Wharfedale's compact reference standmount — a 2-way design pairing the AMT tweeter with a 7-inch woven glass fibre mid/bass driver. At 15 kg and with a 2.5 kHz crossover point, it delivers remarkable coherence, imaging precision, and a musical openness that belies its size. The SLPP bass port extends response to 44 Hz at −6 dB from a 21.6-litre cabinet.
Air Motion Transformer with folded diaphragm for exceptional transient speed and vanishingly low distortion.
Woven glass fibre matrix cone with high-plasticity coating — fast, detailed, and free from colouration.
Slot-loaded precision port delivers clean bass extension to 44 Hz (−6 dB) from a compact 21.6-litre cabinet.
Multi-layer construction with hand-polished piano lacquer finish in Walnut, Black, or White.
Air Motion Transformer precision.
Invented by physicist Dr. Oskar Heil, the Air Motion Transformer uses a folded, pleated diaphragm immersed in a powerful magnetic field to squeeze air laterally — like the bellows of an accordion — moving air four times faster than the diaphragm itself. The result is vanishingly low distortion, exceptional transient speed, and an effortless, open high-frequency response that conventional dome tweeters cannot match. Used across the Elysian, Aura, and EVO 5 ranges in sizes from 27×90 mm to 90 mm.
The perfect bass and midrange diaphragm.
Wharfedale's woven glass fibre matrix cone offers an ideal combination of low mass and high stiffness, with a high-plasticity coating that provides damping to suppress high-frequency resonance. Unlike paper or polymer cones, the woven structure breaks up resonances at a microscopic level, resulting in a fast, detailed midrange free from colouration. Used in Elysian and Aura series drivers, terminated by high-flexibility rubber surrounds for transient accuracy and mounted on die-cast aluminium chassis.
Slot-Loaded Profiled Port.
Wharfedale's Slot-Loaded Profiled Port directs high-pressure, high-velocity airflow through a series of precisely shaped slot ports in the speaker's plinth, rather than using a conventional round port. This reduces turbulence, eliminates port noise, and improves overall efficiency — delivering deeper, better-controlled bass from a given cabinet volume with improved dynamic performance at high listening levels. The SLPP system features across the Elysian, Aura, and EVO 5 ranges.
Resonance killed at the source.
Wharfedale's multi-layer cabinet construction bonds layers of different wood products together with high-damping adhesive — typically 6 mm MDF outer walls bonded to 12 mm high-density particle board inner walls. This sandwich structure shifts panel resonances below audibility and prevents energy storage that colours the sound. The Elysian and Aura series add precision-shaped internal bracing and curved cabinet walls to further reduce standing waves and diffract sound evenly.
