The versatile floorstander.
The SGM 12 strikes the ideal balance between the SGM 15's commanding scale and the SGM 10's compact precision. Its 12-inch Dual Concentric driver with ferrite motor, copper demodulation rings, and 52 mm edge-wound voice coil delivers 91 dB sensitivity with bass extension to 38 Hz from a twin distributed-port DMT cabinet. The hard-wired crossover at 1.2 kHz uses premium polypropylene capacitors and low-loss inductors, and the front-panel Energy Control System provides Treble Energy and Treble Roll-off adjustments for room tuning.

Low-loss crossover at 1.2 kHz with premium polypropylene capacitors, low-loss inductors, and high-power resistors — bi-wireable with five 24ct gold binding posts.

First introduced in 1947, Tannoy's Dual Concentric driver places a high-frequency unit acoustically at the centre of the bass/midrange cone. The result is a true point source — one that produces perfect time and phase alignment across all frequencies, delivering a natural, three-dimensional soundstage with a remarkably wide sweet spot that conventional multi-way speakers cannot replicate.
Differential Material Technology
Resonance-free cabinet construction.
Tannoy's DMT cabinet technology uses high-density ply-based laminates made from a combination of materials with different acoustic properties. By pairing layers of differing resonant characteristics, DMT produces extremely rigid enclosures that dissipate energy uniformly rather than storing it — eliminating cabinet coloration and letting the Dual Concentric driver speak with absolute clarity.
