Tannoy Prestige Series
Alnico refinement in an elegant form.

The Kensington Gold Reference is the smallest Prestige model to feature Tannoy's Alcomax Alnico magnet system with PepperPot WaveGuide. Its 10-inch Dual Concentric driver with the latest GR cone material — paper pulp infused with synthetic fibres for uniform mechanical integrity — delivers 93 dB sensitivity and response from 29 Hz to 27 kHz from a beautifully proportioned 105-litre cabinet. The upgraded crossover with ClarityCap MR capacitors is Deep Cryogenically Treated, and five 24ct gold binding posts support bi-wiring with a dedicated ground terminal.
The sweet spot of the Prestige range — Alcomax Alnico motor with PepperPot WaveGuide for the same tonal character as the flagship in a smaller driver.
Paper pulp infused with bespoke synthetic fibres for uniform mechanical integrity across the entire cone surface — stiffer, more consistent, and more detailed than natural fibre cones.
Hand-wired crossover with ClarityCap MR capacitors, laminated-core inductors, and ±3 dB HF adjustment — Deep Cryogenically Treated.
Oiled walnut veneer with solid walnut trim on a 110 cm birch plywood cabinet — five 24ct gold binding posts with ground terminal.
One source. Perfect coherence.
First introduced in 1947, Tannoy's Dual Concentric driver places a high-frequency unit acoustically at the centre of the bass/midrange cone. The result is a true point source — one that produces perfect time and phase alignment across all frequencies, delivering a natural, three-dimensional soundstage with a remarkably wide sweet spot that conventional multi-way speakers cannot replicate.
The gold standard in high-frequency dispersion.
Reserved for Tannoy's finest loudspeakers, the PepperPot WaveGuide is a precision-machined reverse-throat horn driven by the same Alcomax Alnico magnet as the bass driver — a true single-magnet, dual-air-gap design. Its 4:1 compression ratio, combined with the conductive Alnico motor forming a shorted turn around the voice coil, delivers exceptional transient response, vanishingly low distortion, and the sweet, natural musicality that has defined the Prestige sound for decades.
The musician's magnet.
Alcomax III is a high-energy Alnico magnet grade — an iron/nickel alloy doped with cobalt, aluminium, and rare metals — revered across the music industry for its musicality and dynamics. Its exceptional field strength and electrical conductivity form a shorted turn around the voice coils, nullifying non-linear eddy current effects and delivering a sweet, coherent sound with the ability to resolve the finest low-level textures in the music.
Molecular refinement for wire and drivers.
Tannoy subjects entire crossover assemblies, internal wiring, and critical components to Deep Cryogenic Treatment — cooling to -196°C to relieve mechanical stress in metals at a molecular level. Developed for the Kingdom Royal project and now standard across the Prestige range, the result is a measurable reduction in distortion and a refined, more natural sound.
